A professional release is not simply an audio file. It is a connected set of creative, technical, and business decisions that determine how the music enters the world and how clearly it can be managed afterward.
The role of a distributor
A music distributor provides the delivery pathway between a release owner and digital music services. The work includes handling the release package: audio, cover artwork, identifiers, credits, titles, territories, dates, and other metadata.
What the artist still owns
Distribution is not the same as creating the music, managing publishing, or automatically owning a master. Rights depend on the actual agreement, so every artist and label should read and understand proposed terms.
Prepare before delivery
Finalize the master, confirm collaborators and credits, settle the title and artwork, decide the release date, and collect accurate metadata before beginning the delivery process. A rushed correction is rarely better than a careful first submission.
